Lake Conway Shores needs your help to establish our first Neighborhood Crime Watch program.
This means:
The defined Neighborhood Watch area must have at least 40% participation. Without your participation we may not qualify.
We will have two training meetings: at the first meeting, you will learn the dynamics of Neighborhood Watch; the second meeting is about residential security.
Together we will create a communication/telephone chain, the Watch must be able to maintain an accurate list of members' names, addresses, and telephone numbers. Contact LCS HOA to become a part of the Crime Watch list. The Watch must be able to activate the communication/telephone chain and reach all members within a designated time period.
The Neighborhood Watch group is required to hold two meetings a year, which must be scheduled through our Neighborhood Watch ambassador. If we choose, participation in National Night Out will count as one of the required meetings.

The Objectives of Neighborhood Watch are:
To prevent crime by improving security, increasing vigilance, and creating and maintaining a caring community in an effort to reduce the opportunities for crime
To assist the police in detecting crime by promoting effective two-way communication and the prompt reporting of suspicious and criminal activity
To reduce undue fear of crime by providing accurate information about crime risks, and by promoting a sense of security and community spirit...particularly amongst the more
vulnerable members of the community
To enhance the police/community partnership by providing effective communication through systems such as the Neighborhood Watch Block Captain Program. The Neighborhood
Watch Unit communicates with Block Captains via e-mail, fax, phone or mail of local crime trends which they may then disseminate to their Neighborhood Watch members.p

There has been a significant increase in Auto Burglaries in the OCSO Sector 4, Zone 41 AREA. Please practice good Crime Prevention techniques......
Auto burglaries (AB's) are very difficult cases to solve as there is usually very little physical evidence left behind after one has occurred. The crimes usually occur in the early
morning or late night hours in apartments, family neighborhoods or business parking lots when it is less likely the thieves will be seen. In order to help reduce the risk of becoming a
victim of an Auto burglary here are some easy tips to follow:
1.ALWAYS close your windows and lock your car doors. An open window or unlocked door is an invitation to a criminal. Don't create the opportunity
2.Park in well lit areas close to the building. While parking in an isolated spot may reduce the risk of door dings, a criminal looks for cars parked out of the way in order to help
ensure less attention is drawn to them.
3.ALWAYS remove loose, visable valuables from your vehicle. This includes purses, wallets, cellular phones, laptop computers, and briefcases. A auto burglar loves to see items
that can be grabbed easily and carried away without much effort. This is a crime of opportunity and you create it. A brick through the window is all it takes to gain access to those
loose items.
4.Report suspicious persons seen wandering around in parking lots or looking into cars as they walk by in your neighborhood. Don’t hesitate to call 911 or 407-836-HELP to report
suspicious persons.
5.Keep a list of serial numbers for your commonly used electronic equipment. Even if you plan on never leaving a cellular phone or laptop computer in your car, you should record
all of the following information:
Make of Item: (Motorola, Ericson, Compaq, etc.)
Model Number
Serial Number
Having this information available is necessary in order to enter the items into the computer database. This will aid the police in trying to locate the items if the offender(s) are found
with them or if they are pawned. This will also ensure the property is returned to the rightful owner.
These simple steps should be used whenever you park your car, whether you are just “running in for a minute” or parking for the evening.
The Orange County Sheriff’s Office hopes that these tips will raise awareness and help keep you from becoming a victim.
